MACROSSAN CHAMBERS is a set of barristers' chambers operating in Melbourne, Victoria and with adjunct chambers facilities located in Brisbane, Queensland. The set comprises Queens' Counsel and experienced Counsel practising in Commercial, Land, Planning & Environment, Personal Injuries and Family Law.

The chambers were formally opened in Cairns, Queensland, by the then Chief Justice of Queensland, the Hon Justice Paul de Jersey AC, on 28 May 2010. Chambers were formally established in Melbourne in 2016.

Barristers in these chambers have reputations for the highest standards in advocacy and advisory opinion work. Our expertise spans a broad range of civil dispute resolutions including court appearances, arbitrations and mediations. Within this broad range of advocacy expertise individual barristers concentrate on particular areas of practice. Drawing on a very wide range of skills among our barristers, we are able to make available the appropriate level of seniority and expertise to meet clients' individual needs.

The name, Macrossan Chambers, was chosen for John Murtagh Macrossan (1833-1891) who was a pioneer and politician in North Queensland having first arrived in Australia at Melbourne before moving to the North and not the least for the paradoxes associated with him being that he founded a Queensland legal tradition despite his oft-expressed contempt for those who lived on the law: his sons Hugh Denis Macrossan (1881-1940) and Neal Macrossan (1889-1955) and his grandson John Murtagh Macrossan (1930 – 2008) who all became Chief Justices of Queensland. In a sense, the name 'Macrossan' appropriately bridges our chambers' respective physical operating locations.

We are serious in our wish to make our services available to you and your clients as the case may require.
